Sustainibility

A sustainainible resource is one that can be taken from and will always provide you resources, indefinitley. Even though resources such as trees will keep providing us with wood, we need to keep harvesting at a certain level so we dont run out of trees.

Here is a link to a wikipedia thing for Sustainible Forestry. It's an orginization for sustaining the forests and making them last. Keeping things sustainible is important, and we shopuld work on being more sustainible.

My teacher had me read this article about the oil spill and how the BP failed to prevent it, and it looks like they deserved to have to pay 20 million dollars for it. The reason that the oil spill started was that the BP company neglected to send so called "pigs" through the pipeline.  These pigs were the things that kept bacteria out of the pipe so oil spills like this wouldn't happen.  The BP agents decided that it wasn't necessary to do this anymore, so they stopped the pig program altogether. The hole in the pipeline wasn't much bigger than an almond, but it had enough time to make a rather large spill, one that cost the BP company 20 million dollars when they pled guilty.

I think that it is awful that people do this.   When people are given the opportunity to supervise themselves they usually slack off and say they did great.  The BP industry deserved what happened to them, and next time they should pay more attention to the pipeline.

Now Manatees Might Come Off The Endangered List

A couple of articles ago I stated that wolves might come off the endangered species list. Well now, Feds are trying to have manatees come off as well. There has been a lot of controversey about this action for many years. Now that the number of manatees has grown well into the 3,000's Some want to move the manatees to the threatened list. Fed's state that manatees will get the same treatment as if they were still on the endangered list.

I think that manatees should definitley come off the dendangered species list. They have been on it for a long time and by now that their numbers are well into the 3000's I believe that they should come off.

Blogger Code of Ethics

My teacher showed me this blog about the blogger code of ethics. I agree fully and entirely about every code of conduct it states in there. Most of these ethics were pretty basic, such as "no plagiarizing," which makes sense, because it's illegal. A lot of things are just good morale, such as "always be honest". You should always be honest anyway though. This is a good thing to have for a blog. If you are a big time blogger then you should definitely take a look at this blog.

Wolfs May come off the Endangered Species List

I read this article the other day about how the number in wolf packs is increasing, and they might just come off the endangered species list. The article stated that the wolf population has been growing 20-30% each year. This worried some ranchers, as they were seeing wolf tracks almost every day, which could threaten their cattle. It is okay for a rancher to kill a wolf only if they are threatining their livestock.

I think lifting the wolves off of the endangered species list would let them have a "liscense to kill" and the ranchers may go overboard with hunting. It might plop the wolves Right back on the endangered species list. I think they should wait until the wolves are well into not being endangered so if hunters go overboard, the wolves won't be nearly wiped out again.
